In the event that you do not have a tablespoon for matcha tea, you can measure 1 ½ teaspoons of matcha (equivalent to 2 gr). A good trick is to tap the colander gently so that the tea falls into the bowl. With this gesture you will undo the lumps and enjoy a tea with a more delicate finish for the palate.

In a separate cup of tea, pour 60 ml of hot water. The water temperature should be a little below the boiling point (around 80º C). You should not yet pour the hot water into the matcha tea bowl you have prepared.

Slowly pour the hot water into the tea bowl, preventing the matcha from piling up. As the hot water manages to heat the cup, it prepares it for a better tea reception. Dry the cup with a clean cloth.

Quickly beat the tea for 10 to 15 seconds with a chasen, making zigzag movements. Chasen is a very fine bamboo whisk whose design is perfect for preparing matcha. Never use beaters or other metal tools that would alter both the aroma and flavor of the tea. You will have obtained a frothy tea, which will be softer the more circular movements you carry out.

Pour the tea back into your cup and drink it quickly. The way of preparing this tea has nothing to do with the rest, so the powdered tea will settle in the bottom of the cup.
